Hmmm...... Interesting......

These cultural celebrations at first all seemed very different. But after getting to know about and understand them, they are actually more similar than we first thought.

Perhaps also, after learning more about these celebrations we've come to value and appreciate them a little bit more.

Do you wonder if the same could also be said, of all the other ways we are different and diverse?

Have a think and discuss in pairs.

It's time to get to know someone  else in the school community better.

Individually, you will all be given time to get to know another student from another learning community better.

The teacher has paired each of you with another student whom it is believed you don't know very well.

All you need to do for this activity is talk with them and get to know them better.  Find out how you are different and what you have in common.

Task 3: Geting to know another person

To prepare for this activity you will need to:

  • find out from your teacher who you have been paired with, and

  • use the worksheet below to prepare some discussion questions for you to ask this other student

  • some discussion prompts have been provided for you

  • get your discussion questions conferenced with your teacher

The teacher will tell you when it's time to meet the other student.

Tip

Share and discuss your questions with members of your iQuest group.  Perhaps they've thought of questions you can use also.  Give reasons for the questions you've come up with.  Don't forget the magic question....."Why do you say that?"
