Ramadan and Eid

Ramadan is the Islamic tradition of fasting and occurs on the 9th month of the Islamic calendar.
People of the Islamic faith are called Muslim. During the 9th Month Muslims fast, meaning they go without food in daylight hours. They can eat before sunrise and after sunset. Ramadan helps people
with self discipline, encouraging them to grateful for the food they have and respect other people
in their lives. At the end of Ramadan fasting a big celebration occurs called Eid. During the Eid celebration Muslims give presents of food and new clothes to one another.
